Ensemble Consonances: Ivy Wong, contrebasse

C'est à Hong-Kong, sa ville natale, que Ivy Wong débute l'apprentissage de la contrebasse. Elle poursuit ses études à New York, y obtenant un Master de la Juilliard school et un certificat de pratique orchestrale de la Manhattan school of music. Elle est également diplômée d'un bachelor of Art en Art Administration et d'un bachelor of Music en Music Performance de SUNY Purchase.

Ses principaux professeurs furent Timothy Cobb, Leigh Mesh et Orin O'Brien. Elle joue régulièrement avec le NY Philarmonic Orchestra, le NY Classical Players, le NY Festival Orchestra ainsi que le New World Symphony de Miami.

Elle prend part à de nombreuses tournées avec le Verbier Festival Orchestra, le Youth Orchestra of Americas ainsi qu'aux festivals de Moritzburg en Allemagne et au Lake George Music Festival de New York.

En tant que professeur, Ivy a enseigné le solfège à la Juilliard school et a participé au Music Advancement Program de la même école. Elle fait également partie de l'équipe de coachs de l'Orquesta Filarmonica Boca del Rio ( Mexique) et Puerto Rico Summer Music Festival.

En Mai 2015 , elle enregistre l'album « Out comes woman » avec le groupe de world/pop Honeybird.
En décembre 2015 elle rejoint le pupitre de contrebasse à l'orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

Ivy Wong, Bass

Ivy Wong is a musician and educator, and the newest bassist of Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to the move to Switzerland, Wong enjoyed an active career in the United States where she performed with the New York Philharmonic regularly, as well as the New York Classical Players, New York Festival Orchestra, and New World Symphony in Miami, FL. During past summers, she has performed around the world: Verbier Festival Orchestra in the Swiss alps, YOA Orchestra of the Americas in Mexico, Chile and China, Moritzburg Festival in Germany and Lake George Music Festival in New York.

When she is not in the orchestra, she could be found playing in various chamber ensembles and baroque groups. She toured in the U.S. with Juilliard415 performing Bach's St. Matthew's Passion in April 2014, and in China for Mojiao Wang's newest opera Encounter in May 2015. Recent projects include concerts with Camerata Venia, L’Ensemble Consonances, Verbier Academy, Aurora Piano Quartet, and tours in China, India, and Spain with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Out comes woman, a world & pop album she recorded with Monique Mizrahi and Tim Keiper released in May 2015.

As an educator, Wong was on the ear training faculty at The Juilliard School Pre-College division. A former teaching artist at P.S. 11 in Chelsea, NYC, she explored and created music with second-grader with non-traditional approaches. She was also on faculty of the Music Advancement Program (MAP) at the Juilliard School, where she taught piano, chorus, and orchestra to highly talented children with backgrounds under-represented in American performing arts. During her graduate studies at the Juilliard School, Wong was a ear training teaching fellow to two graduate level classes. Wong was also on piano faculty of the Arete Music Academy in New Jersey. Wong was the double bass coach of Orquesta Filharmónica Boca del Rio in Mexico, as well as the Puerto Rico Music Festival.

Wong was a graduate of SUNY Purchase, with degrees in Arts Administration (B.A.) and Music Performance (B.M.). She has a masters degree from the Juilliard School, and a performer's certificate in orchestral performance from Manhattan School of Music.
